Mandy filled her hand with the sut-like powder from the Slytherin Common Room Floo Powder. She stepped into the oversized fire place and said Leaky Cauldron Breathing in ash and dust, Mandy spun and spun around a green fire. Rooms passed her finally stopping at one. Looking in she could see a tavern with older witches and wizards everywhere. Mandy wished that she could stay. But instead she walked over to the door leading to the muggle world. Maybe she would come back later. But now she had to get a cookbook for the muggle studies class. Mandy's profeser said that he would refuse to let anyone in without it.
Out here, it seemed darker, boring, and gray. Kids were being pulled along by there unwitting parents. Shops lined either side of the road, muggles zipping in and out carrying bags full of who-knows-what. The standerd English money was folded into her pocket. The gobblins, down at the bank, had transfured some of Mandy's money to pounds. The system was entirly different then the wizard way she knew so well. Course this was what her mother had used, being a muggle and all.
Walking a little bit around, Mandy found a second hand bookstore. The creaking green sign hung from black chains. English Second Hand Books. Sighing Mandy walked in and searched the shelves. What muggle cookbook would be interesting enough to amaze? Mandy thought. English Tea through the Ages, Cakes and Bakes. No nothing that anyone would actually want to look at. It didn't surprise Mandy, at all, that the cookbooks hadn't even really been touched. Dust flue off as she set the Cakes and Bakes back on the shelf. No one would come to a 2nd hand bookstore for a cookbook. Only for book reports or classes that they needed a cheap book for.
